Hidden deep within the stunning Neelum Valley of Azad Kashmir, Taobat is one of Pakistan's most beautiful and least explored destinations. Located near the Line of Control and surrounded by towering mountains, dense pine forests, and the crystal-clear Neelum River, Taobat offers an unforgettable escape from city life.

My seven-day journey from Lahore to Taobat turned out to be one of the most memorable adventures I have ever experienced. From scenic mountain roads and charming villages to breathtaking landscapes and warm local hospitality, every moment felt like a postcard come to life.

Day 1: Lahore to Muzaffarabad

The journey began early in the morning from Lahore. After traveling through Murree and Kohala, I reached Muzaffarabad by evening. The drive itself was scenic, with rolling hills and beautiful mountain views welcoming us into Azad Kashmir.

After checking into a local hotel, I spent the evening exploring the city and preparing for the next leg of the adventure.

Day 2: Muzaffarabad to Keran

The road from Muzaffarabad to Keran follows the stunning Neelum River. Every turn revealed spectacular mountain scenery, waterfalls, and riverside villages.

Stops at Dhani Waterfall and Kutton added extra beauty to the journey. By evening, I arrived in Keran, where I enjoyed peaceful views of the river and the mountains beyond.

Day 3: Keran to Sharda

Sharda is one of the most famous destinations in Neelum Valley and serves as a gateway to the upper valley. The ancient ruins of Sharda University and the surrounding landscape make it a fascinating place to visit.

I spent the day exploring the area, walking along the riverbank, and enjoying local Kashmiri cuisine.

Day 4: Sharda to Taobat

This was the most exciting part of the trip. The road beyond Sharda becomes increasingly adventurous, passing through Kel and several remote villages before reaching Taobat.

As I approached Taobat, the scenery became even more dramatic. Vast green meadows, wooden houses, snow-capped peaks, and flowing streams created a landscape unlike anywhere else in Pakistan.

Upon arrival, I immediately understood why Taobat is considered one of the hidden gems of Northern Pakistan.

Day 5: Exploring Taobat

The entire day was dedicated to exploring Taobat. Early in the morning, I walked along the banks of the Neelum River while the rising sun illuminated the surrounding mountains.

The village itself is peaceful and picturesque, with traditional wooden homes scattered across lush green fields. Every direction offered stunning views perfect for photography.

One of the highlights was watching the river emerge from the surrounding mountains before beginning its long journey through the valley.

Day 6: Nature Walks and Local Culture

On the sixth day, I explored nearby hiking trails and interacted with local residents. The people of Taobat are known for their hospitality and simplicity.

The fresh mountain air, the sound of flowing water, and the complete absence of city noise created an atmosphere of pure relaxation.

As evening approached, I witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets of the trip as golden light covered the valley and surrounding peaks.

Day 7: Returning to Lahore

Leaving Taobat was difficult. The peaceful environment and breathtaking scenery make visitors want to stay much longer.

The return journey provided one final opportunity to admire the beauty of Neelum Valley before heading back to Lahore with unforgettable memories and thousands of photographs.

Road Condition: Good until Sharda; rough and mountainous from Kel to Taobat.
